    Direction:- Below question is followed by two statements I and II. You have to determine whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question.     Explanation

    Let the digit at unit place of the two digit number be x and that at ten’s place be y. From statement I, ⇒ x – y = 2 This relation can be true for many two digits number, like 13, 24, 35………… ∴ The statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question From statement II, x + y = 8 This relation can be true for many two digits number, like 17, 28, ….. ∴ The statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question Combining I and II, x – y = 2 x + y = 8 On solving these two relations, we get x = 5 and y = 3 Thus, number is 35. ∴ Both statements I and II together are needed to answer the question
