খনার বচন প্রধানত কৃষিভিত্তিক। খনার বচন ৮ম থেকে ১২শ শতাব্দীর মধ্যে রচিত হয়েছিল বলে মনে করা হলেও মধ্যযুগের শুরুতে সমৃদ্ধি লাভ করে। বৌদ্ধ সমাজে যেমন ডাকের বচনের উৎপত্তি হয়েছিল, তেমনি হিন্দু সমাজে খনার বচনের সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল। এ বচনগুলি জ্যোতির্বিদ্যায় পারদর্শী এক বিদুষী বাঙালি নারীর রচিত বলে ধরে নেয়া হয়। খনার বচনগুলির মাধ্যমে প্রধানত কৃষি, আবহাওয়া, সমাজের পরিচয় সম্পর্কে বহুবিধ ধারণা পাওয়া যায়। যেমন: কাঁচায় না নোয়ালে বাশ, পাকলে করে ঠাস ঠাস। একে তো নাচুনি বুড়ি, তার উপর ঢোলের বাড়ি।Related questions
